The Odela Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple is one of the most famous Shiva temples in Telangana and is considered the spiritual heart of Peddapalli district. According to local legends, the temple is several centuries old and is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of Mallikarjuna Swamy.

It is believed that a sage named Pankaja Maharshi worshipped a Shiva Lingam at this place in ancient times. Over the years, the Lingam became covered by anthills and remained hidden. Later, a farmer named Odelu discovered the Shiva Lingam while ploughing his field. The village eventually came to be known as Odela after him.

The temple is one of the most important Shaivite pilgrimage centers in northern Telangana. Devotees believe that worshipping Lord Mallanna here brings prosperity, good health, and spiritual blessings.
